Kites Over Capstone 2008 Due to mega amounts of working at events other than that rainy day we had i have managed to reach this years income targets. So i have had the go ahead for Kites 2008. I spoke to lots of people last year at the event one of the joys of the rain i got chance to mingle.
We will be looking at running the event without displays this year and looking for new interesting ideas. We will still charge and entrance fee and a small amout for camping as we are going for the 2 days event this time around. I Know the digie club are interested in coming along some of the stalls that was there last year are interested in having some more input to the fest as well. If anyone would like to have any input to it this year im sure i can make a donation to the culb for all the work that is put in. Look forward to hearing from anyone interested Kristian.staples@medway.gov.uk Hope you are all well Kris |

Re: Kites Over Capstone 2008 From the non-kiting point of view, a couple of things
1) There used to be a model engineering club in Sittingbourne and another in Medway and another in Tonbridge, who used to have portable tracks that they could take along to fetes, etc and give train rides. Just another attraction to keep the crowds amused 2) At the first Kites event, there was a really good live band playing. Doesn anyone know what they were called and whether we could get them back? 3) Craft stalls/craft show for the grown ups may go down well From the kiting perspective, I can't commit on behalf of the club but just as an idea, could we run a kite doctor, repairing broken kites, fixing kites that don't fly, etc. We often get asked anyway while we're flying, but it would give joe public a focal point adn also give the club some advertising.

I can't answer that one, but I know a group of youngsters who have a darned good band! Quote: could we run a kite doctor, repairing broken kites, fixing kites that don't fly, etc. I'd certainly be up for that.

Re: Kites Over Capstone 2008 I was thinking along those lines too, but wasn't sure of the logistics of getting a big enough pool installed and filled. At Berck they have a big pool with fans and model sailing boats for kids to play with.

Re: Kites Over Capstone 2008 Hi Kristian, glad to hear capstone is a go again this year. getting rid of the exspencive display events is a good idea as well.
Just as a suggestion why not run basic kite flying lessons from single to quadline? give the public the opotunity to fly some real kites. Andrew M |
